Two-Way Google Calendar Sync for Creators: How It Works

19 October 2026

Two-way sync means your booking page reads your Google Calendar to hide busy times and writes to it when someone books. Viralyze connects once, lets you choose which calendars block slots and which one receives bookings, and then keeps both sides in agreement without you doing anything. For online sessions the client is invited to the event with a Google Meet link already attached.

This article explains the two directions, the calendar choices that trip people up, and how a music teacher uses it to run lessons from a single reel.

What does "two-way" actually mean?

Direction one: Google to the page. Busy events on the calendars you select remove those times from what customers can book. A dentist appointment, a family lunch, a recording session, all of them block.

Direction two: the page to Google. When a customer books, an event appears on the calendar you chose as the destination, with the service name, duration and the client as an invitee. If they reschedule or cancel through their confirmation page, the event updates in Google too.

One-way tools do only the second part, which is how double bookings happen.

Which calendars should block slots?

Every calendar that holds commitments you cannot move. Most creators tick two: a work calendar and a personal one. If a shared household calendar has school pickups on it, tick that as well.

The destination calendar is separate. It is where new bookings get written, and it is usually the work calendar. Ticking a calendar as blocking does not make it the destination, and vice versa, so check both settings during setup.

How does a music teacher set it up?

She teaches guitar over Google Meet and in person, and runs a "LESSON" keyword on her playing reels that sends the booking page by DM.

1. Connect Google Calendar in Viralyze and approve access on Google's screen. 2. Tick "Teaching" and "Personal" as blocking calendars. 3. Choose "Teaching" as the destination for bookings. 4. Set a 10-minute buffer so back-to-back lessons have a gap for tuning. 5. List "Online lesson, 45 min, Google Meet, ₹900" and "In-person lesson, 60 min, ₹1,400".

A student comments LESSON, gets the link, picks a Tuesday 6 PM online slot that her calendar shows as free, and pays by UPI. The event appears on her Teaching calendar with the student invited and a Meet link inside. Her evening concert on the Personal calendar never showed as an option.

What happens to the Meet link and the reminders?

For a Google Meet service the Meet link is created with the calendar event and shared with the client through the invitation, so neither of you has to make or paste a link. Phone and WhatsApp call services carry the number instead. In-person services carry the location you set.

Separately from the calendar invite, a WhatsApp reminder goes to the client before the session. The two systems do different jobs: the invite keeps the appointment on both calendars, the reminder reduces no-shows.

Does the sync respect days off and buffers too?

Yes. Days off, partial days such as "after 2 PM", and buffers are set inside Viralyze and apply alongside the calendar's busy events. A slot is offered only when all three agree: not a day off, not inside a buffer, and not busy on a blocking calendar.

If you let clients cancel up to a deadline, a cancellation removes the event, refunds the payment automatically and reopens the slot in the same moment.

Frequently asked questions

**What if I use two Google accounts?** Connect the account whose calendars hold your commitments; you can then choose any of its calendars as blocking or destination.

**Will events I create directly in Google appear in the app?** They do not need to. They block slots on the booking page automatically, which is the part that matters for avoiding clashes.

**Can I disconnect Google Calendar without losing bookings?** Existing bookings remain on your calendar; disconnecting only stops future syncing until you connect again.

Connect your calendar once and take your next booking from a comment with the 7-day free trial of Viralyze, no card needed.
