Any-reply mode sends the DM to everyone who responds to the story, whatever they write. Use it for a story that asks a question and promises something to anyone who answers, for example "Reply with your city and I'll send tomorrow's workshop timings."

Keyword mode sends the DM only when the reply contains your word. Use it when the story has one clear ask, such as "Reply LINK for the template." Matching is not case-sensitive and tolerates typos and emojis, so "link pls 🙏" still counts.

What should the story itself say?

Make the instruction impossible to miss. Put the word in large text, say it in the voiceover if there is one, and keep the story to a single ask.

A working example for a nutrition coach:

Story text: "My 5-minute breakfast list is ready. Reply LIST and it's yours." DM: "Here's the breakfast list 🍳 [PDF]. Which one are you trying first?"
