Instagram DM Script for a Recipe Card

19 October 2026

Food reels get the same comment a hundred times: "recipe?", "recipe pls", "recipe bhejo". The right response is a DM with the dish name, serves and time, then the complete recipe as a card they can save, and an invitation to ask about substitutions. Viralyze sends that DM on every spelling of the keyword, and if your recipe is longer than a normal message, it becomes a downloadable PDF automatically.

The recipe card DM script

Automatic DM on keywords RECIPE, "recipe bhejo", "recipe pls":

"Hey! Here is the recipe from the reel. Dhaba-style paneer bhurji, serves 4, 35 minutes start to finish, with the exact spice measures and the two things most people get wrong (the heat for the onions and when the paneer goes in). The full card is attached. If you need a vegan swap or a no-onion version, reply and I will tell you."

Hinglish version (sent automatically when the comment is Hinglish):

"Hey! Reel wali dhaba-style paneer bhurji ki recipe yeh rahi, 4 logon ke liye, 35 minute. Poora card attach hai. Vegan ya no-onion version chahiye toh reply karo."

Then the card itself: ingredients with quantities, the method in numbered steps, and two notes. That text becomes the PDF.

Why send a PDF instead of typing the recipe in the DM?

Because recipes are long and people cook from them later, with messy hands, on a phone. A PDF can be saved, printed, or shared with whoever is cooking. A long DM scrolls away.

In the Viralyze app, a long message is converted to a downloadable PDF automatically, with open tracking, so you also learn how many of the 300 requesters actually opened the card.

Does the keyword need every Hinglish spelling?

No. Matching ignores case and common typos, and handles Hinglish and emojis, so "Recipe", "RECIPEE" and "recipe??" all trigger without being listed. Do add the distinct phrasings your audience uses, such as "recipe bhejo", "recipe do" and "🍳", because those are different words rather than typos.

Different keywords can send different replies too: RECIPE sends the card, PRICE sends the link to your ebook.

Setting up the recipe automation

1. Write the recipe card in the Viralyze app as the DM text, or upload your designed PDF. 2. Create an Auto-DM automation on the reel with keywords RECIPE, "recipe bhejo", "recipe do" and "🍳". 3. Paste the intro script above the card and attach the PDF. 4. Turn on the public reply, rotating between "Recipe sent to your DMs 🍳" and "Check your inbox for the card". 5. Test a sample comment like "Recipe plsss" and go live.

For a weekly cooking series, choose "comments on any post" and one automation covers every reel until you change the dish.

How does a recipe card lead to sales?

Add one line at the bottom of the card: "This is one of 40 recipes in my 30-Minute Dinners ebook, ₹249: [checkout link]." The person already trusted you enough to cook your dish; the ebook offer arrives at the right moment.

Every recipe requester is now a contact with the reel as source. When the ebook launches, you have a list of people who asked for paneer recipes, separate from the ones who asked for desserts.

Frequently asked questions

**Can I send a different recipe card for each reel?** Yes. Create one automation per reel, each with its own card. The keyword can stay RECIPE every time.

**What if the comment is on an old reel?** The automation keeps working on that post for as long as it is Live, and Instagram allows a private reply within 7 days of the comment.

**Can the card include a video link?** Yes. Add a smart link to the YouTube version inside the DM, and you will see how many card readers tapped it.

Start your 7-day free trial of Viralyze, no card needed, and let the next "recipe?" comment answer itself.
