Instagram Caption Formulas That Drive Keyword Comments

19 October 2026

A caption gets keyword comments when the ask is visible, specific and tied to a thing worth having. Put "Comment PLAN and I will DM you the 4-week routine" in the first two lines, before Instagram hides the rest behind "more", and say the word in capitals so it is easy to copy. Viralyze picks up the comment and sends the routine within about a second, so the caption's promise is kept while the viewer is still on the reel.

Why do most captions fail to get keyword comments?

Three reasons. The ask is buried after a long story. The keyword is vague ("comment below if you want it"). Or the caption gives away the content so there is nothing left to DM. Fix the first by moving the ask up, the second by naming one capitalised word, and the third by holding something back: the reel shows the result, the DM gives the method.

Six caption formulas that work

1. The one-line ask: "Comment RECIPE for the full method." Use it when the reel is self-explanatory. 2. The promise and ask: "The 3 lines I use to close a ₹50k client. Comment SCRIPT and I will send them word for word." 3. The choice caption: "Comment PLAN for the workout, DIET for the meal plan, or CALL to train with me." Three keywords, three DMs, one automation. 4. The objection caption: "You do not need a gym for this. Comment HOME and I will send the no-equipment version." 5. The scarcity caption: "Batch closes Sunday. Comment CLASS for the link. The automation pauses when it is full." 6. The story caption: three lines of context, then "Comment GUIDE and it is yours."

In every case the keyword is in capitals and within the first two lines or the last line, never the middle.

Should the keyword be at the start or the end of the caption?

Start, for reels that will be watched once and scrolled past; the viewer sees the ask without tapping "more". End, for carousel posts and longer captions that people actually read, because the ask then lands after the value. If you are unsure, use both: a short ask in line one and a repeat in the last line. Viralyze does not care where the ask sits, it only reads the comments.

Concrete example: a copywriter's "SCRIPT" caption

A freelance copywriter posts a reel reading a cold email out loud. Caption: "This email got me 4 replies from 10 sends. Comment SCRIPT and I will DM you the template with the subject line. (Not posting it here, the DM has the editable version.)" Keywords: SCRIPT, "script please", "template". The DM is 500 words, so Viralyze sends it as a PDF with open tracking, and the lead magnet collects an email. The caption's bracketed line does the real work: it explains why the viewer must comment rather than just read.

How to pair the caption with the reel's last frame

The caption and the on-screen text should say the same word. If the reel ends with "Comment GUIDE" on screen and the caption says "Comment LINK", you have just split your comments across two words. Use the same keyword everywhere, and add the common variants ("guide please", "guide bhejo") inside the Viralyze automation so misspellings still trigger. Test the exact phrase with the live tester before posting.

Captions to avoid

Avoid "Comment anything and I will DM you". It attracts low-intent comments and makes the public thread meaningless. Avoid "DM me for price"; that asks the viewer to do the work the automation should do. Avoid asking for two unrelated actions ("save this and comment LINK"); pick the one that pays.

Frequently asked questions

**Does the caption have to contain the keyword for the automation to work?** No. Viralyze triggers on the comment, not the caption, but a caption that states the keyword clearly gets far more matching comments.

**Can I change the keyword after posting?** Yes. Edit the automation's keywords at any time; the reel's caption can be edited on Instagram to match.

**Should I pin a comment with the keyword too?** It helps on reels where the caption is long; a pinned comment "Comment GUIDE for the PDF" keeps the ask at the top of the thread.
