How to Track Which Reel Brought a Booking

19 October 2026

Views tell you which reel was watched. They do not tell you which reel made money. A reel with 400,000 views and three bookings is less useful than one with 20,000 views and fifteen, and without attribution you will keep making the first kind. Viralyze tracks the path from comment to booking per reel, so the answer is in the app rather than in your memory.

This article shows how to set up reels so attribution works, how to read the funnel, and how to use the result to decide what to post next.

Why is it hard to know which reel brought a booking?

Because a link in bio is shared by every piece of content. A customer watches a reel, taps your profile, taps the link, books. The booking knows it came from the bio link, not from the reel that caused the tap.

The fix is to move the link into a DM triggered by the reel itself. Now the booking's path starts at a specific comment on a specific reel, and that path can be recorded.

How do I set up reels so bookings are attributed?

Create one Auto-DM per reel, each sending the same booking page. The steps:

1. In the Viralyze app, open Auto-DM and choose the specific reel as the trigger, not "any post". 2. Add keywords. They can be the same word across reels; attribution comes from the reel, not the keyword. 3. Attach your booking page and write the DM. 4. Repeat for each new reel. It takes about a minute each, and you can schedule it to start with your next post.

Every booking made through that DM is stored as a contact with a source tag naming the automation, which names the reel.

How do I read the funnel?

Each automation shows five numbers in sequence: comments, matched, delivered, clicked and signed up. Read them left to right and look for the biggest drop.

Here is an example for a wedding photographer with two reels:

  • Reel A (drone shots of a venue): 240 comments, 231 matched, 229 delivered, 96 clicked, 4 signed up
  • Reel B (behind-the-scenes of a haldi ceremony): 85 comments, 80 matched, 79 delivered, 61 clicked, 9 signed up

Reel A drew more comments but most people did not click, and few booked. Reel B drew fewer comments but most clicked and more than twice as many booked. The next reel should look like B.

Which screens in Viralyze show this?

The home screen shows DMs sent, link clicks, follower growth and revenue over 7, 30 or 90 days, with top reels by DMs. The automation's own page shows its funnel. The contacts list shows each person with their source tag.

For bookings specifically, open the contact and the source tells you the reel. Export the contacts list to CSV if you want to count bookings per reel in a spreadsheet at the end of the month.

How do I use attribution to decide what to post?

Post more of whatever produced the signed-up number, not the comment number. Comments are cheap; a reel can draw hundreds with a giveaway and produce no bookings.

Once a month, sort your reels by signed up. Look at the top three and write down what they have in common: the hook, the service shown, the length. Make the next three reels about that. Then check the funnel again. This loop is slower than chasing views but it is the one that fills a calendar.

Frequently asked questions

**Can I attribute bookings from the link in bio as well?** The link-in-bio page shows tap counts per link, so you can see profile traffic, but per-reel attribution needs the booking to go through a reel's own Auto-DM.

**Does using the same keyword on every reel confuse attribution?** No. Attribution is by reel, so "BOOK" on five reels gives five separate funnels and five separate source tags.

**Can I see which story brought a booking too?** Yes. A story-reply trigger has its own automation and its own funnel, so bookings from a story are tagged separately from bookings from reels.
