How to Reply to Comments While You Sleep

You reply to comments while you sleep by setting a keyword once and letting an automation send the public reply and the private DM for you. It runs on Meta's official Instagram API, not on your phone, so it keeps working whether your phone is charging, off, or in another time zone. With Viralyze, setup takes about a minute: pick a post, choose the keywords, write the DM, turn it on.

Here is what actually happens overnight and how to set it up so nothing looks robotic.

What does an overnight automation actually do?

Three things, in this order, for every matching comment:

• Posts a short public reply under the comment, such as "Sent you a DM 💌", rotated between variations.
• Sends a private DM with your link, PDF, product checkout or booking page.
• Records the person as a contact and logs the stages: comment, matched, delivered, clicked.

If you turned on the follow-gate, it first asks the commenter to follow, up to three polite nudges, then sends the link. Existing followers get the link immediately.

Why is overnight the time that matters?

Because your audience is not on your clock. A creator in Mumbai with followers in Dubai, London and Toronto gets comments across 14 hours of the day, and Instagram often surfaces a reel hardest a few hours after posting, which may be midnight for you.

Instagram allows one private reply per comment within seven days, so technically you could reply in the morning. But the person who commented "link?" at 1 AM was ready to click at 1 AM.

A worked example for a travel creator

A travel creator posts a reel at 10 PM on "How I planned Vietnam for ₹45,000". The caption says "Comment VIETNAM for my full itinerary with hotel names and costs".

The Viralyze automation uses keywords VIETNAM, ITINERARY and "plan bhejo". The DM: "Here's the full 9-day Vietnam itinerary, with every hotel, the costs and the booking order I used. Enjoy the trip!" The itinerary is written as text and becomes a downloadable PDF with open tracking.

By 7 AM the reel has 1,200 comments, each one has a public reply, and each commenter has the PDF. The creator opens the Inbox, finds 30 human replies asking about visas, and answers them before breakfast, inside the 24-hour window.

Setting it up before bed

1. Post the reel, or prepare it and schedule the automation to start with your next post. 2. In Viralyze, pick the post and add your keywords. Matching is not case-sensitive and handles typos and emojis. 3. Write the DM and attach the file or link. Turn on AI variations so the messages read differently. 4. Write two or three public reply variations. 5. Run the live tester with "Vietnam pls" to confirm. 6. Set an auto-pause after a number of days or DMs if you want a clean window, then turn it on.

Will Instagram penalise automated replies?

Not when they go through the official API. Viralyze is a Meta Tech Provider; you log in on Meta's own screen, the app never sees your password, and nothing is posted to your feed. The app follows the one-private-reply-per-comment rule automatically.

Unofficial tools that run on your phone or browser are a different matter, and are the reason the question gets asked. Stick to the official route.

What to check in the morning

Open the home screen: DMs sent, link clicks and follower growth for the last 24 hours. Then open the Inbox. Replies to the Auto-DM arrive there with the original comment as context, so you can see "asked about visa, commented on the Vietnam reel" without scrolling.

Reply to those, and note any question that appeared more than a few times. Add it to the DM text so tomorrow night's version answers it too.

Frequently asked questions

**Does my phone need to be on for the automation to run?** No. It runs on Instagram's official API through Viralyze's servers, so your phone can be off, in flight mode or out of battery.

**Can I pause it if the reel gets more attention than I expected?** Yes. Automations have Live, Paused and Scheduled states, and you can set an auto-pause after a number of DMs in advance.

**What if someone comments a slightly wrong spelling at night?** Keyword matching handles typos, Hinglish spellings and emojis, so "vietnm" or "itinerary 🙏" will still trigger the DM.
