How to Fix Bookings Not Showing in Google Calendar

19 October 2026

When a booking does not appear in Google Calendar, one of three things is wrong: the Google connection was not finished, the booking is being written to a different calendar than the one you have open, or the Google Calendar app simply has not refreshed yet. Viralyze lets you choose exactly which calendar receives bookings and which calendars block slots, so the setting to check first is the destination calendar.

Below is the order to check things in, followed by what to expect once sync is working properly.

Is Google actually connected?

Open the Bookings section and look for the Google Calendar status. If it says not connected or asks you to reconnect, the booking was saved in the app but had nowhere to go in Google.

Connecting takes one login. In Viralyze you choose a Google account, approve calendar access, and then pick two things: which calendars should block slots (busy events stop people booking those times) and which calendar new bookings should be written to. Both are set once and can be changed any time.

Which calendar are the bookings going to?

This is the most common cause. If you have several calendars in one Google account (Personal, Work, a shared family calendar), the booking is written to the one you chose as the destination. If you are looking at a different calendar, or that calendar is hidden in the Google Calendar app, the event is there but out of sight.

A quick example: a dermatologist connected Google, chose "Clinic" as the destination, then checked her phone where only "Personal" was ticked in the calendar list. Her Tuesday 4 PM consultation existed in "Clinic" the whole time. Ticking the calendar in the Google app showed it immediately.

How do I fix it step by step?

1. In the app, open Bookings, then Google Calendar settings. 2. Confirm the status is connected; if not, tap connect and log in with the correct Google account. 3. Check the destination calendar name. Change it if it is not the one you use daily. 4. Open Google Calendar on your phone, open the side menu and make sure that calendar is ticked. 5. Pull down to refresh, or wait a minute; Google's own app sometimes lags.

If a booking was made while Google was disconnected, the booking still exists in the app's booking list and the customer still received their confirmation. Reconnecting does not retroactively push old bookings, so add any missing ones manually or ask the client to use the add-to-calendar button on their confirmation page.

Does two-way sync work both directions?

Yes. Once connected, busy events in the calendars you selected block booking slots, and new bookings appear as events in the destination calendar. Days off, partial days (such as "after 2 PM"), date ranges and buffers set in the app are respected on the booking page.

For Google Meet sessions, the client is invited to the event with a Meet link, so they also see it in their own calendar. If the client says they did not receive an invite, check the email address they entered at booking.

What if the event appears but at the wrong time?

Check the time zone on the Google account and on your phone. Bookings are written in the time zone set in the app's booking settings; if your Google Calendar is set to a different zone, the event shows shifted. Set both to the same zone and new bookings will line up. Existing events can be dragged to the correct time in Google without affecting the app's record.

Frequently asked questions

**Can I send bookings to one calendar and block slots using another?** Yes. Destination and blocking calendars are chosen separately, so you can block on Personal and Work while writing bookings to a Clients calendar.

**Will deleting the event in Google cancel the booking?** No. Cancel from the app's booking list so the client is notified and any refund is processed automatically.

**Does the client need a Google account?** No. They receive an email invite and can add the event to any calendar from the confirmation page.
