How to Choose Which Google Calendars Block Your Slots

19 October 2026

Most people have more than one Google calendar: a work one, a personal one, maybe a shared family calendar and a subscribed holidays calendar. A booking link only works well if it respects the right ones. Viralyze lets you choose, calendar by calendar, which ones block slots and which one receives bookings, and the sync runs both ways.

Which calendars should block my booking slots?

Any calendar that contains events you cannot be double-booked over should block slots. That usually means your work calendar and your personal calendar, but not a "Birthdays" or "Holidays in India" calendar full of all-day entries.

The test is simple: if an event on that calendar appeared at 3 PM on Tuesday, would you be unavailable for a client at 3 PM? If yes, let it block. If the calendar is informational, leave it off so it does not quietly wipe out whole days.

How do I set this up in Viralyze?

Connect Google once, then tick the calendars that should count as busy and pick the one that receives bookings. The steps:

1. Open Bookings in the Viralyze app and tap Connect Google Calendar. You sign in on Google's own screen. 2. You will see a list of every calendar on that Google account. Switch on blocking for each one whose busy events should remove availability. 3. Choose one calendar as the destination. Every new booking is created there as an event with the client's name and details. 4. Add your days off: single dates, partial days such as "after 2 PM", or date ranges for a holiday. 5. Set buffers before or after sessions if you need preparation or travel time. 6. Save, then open your shre.pro booking link on your phone to confirm the slots you expect are the slots being shown.

What does two-way sync mean for blocking?

It means changes flow in both directions without you re-entering anything. A booking made through your link appears in Google Calendar, and an event you add directly in Google Calendar removes that time from your booking page.

So if a friend sends you a Google Calendar invite for lunch on Thursday and you accept it into a blocking calendar, Thursday lunchtime stops being bookable. If a client reschedules through their confirmation page, the Google event moves. You are not maintaining two systems.

A worked example: a career coach with three calendars

Say Priya runs 45-minute career coaching calls on Google Meet. Her Google account has:

  • "Work" (her own client sessions and team meetings)
  • "Personal" (gym, dentist, school pickups)
  • "Cricket fixtures" (a subscribed calendar she likes to glance at)

Her setup in Viralyze: Work blocks slots and receives bookings. Personal blocks slots but receives nothing. Cricket fixtures is switched off entirely, because a 7 PM match does not stop her from taking a 7 PM call if she chooses to.

She also adds a 10-minute buffer after each session for notes and sets Sundays off. Clients booking from her reel see only the gaps that survive all of this.

Does blocking a calendar share its details with clients?

No. Blocking only removes time from your availability. The client sees that a slot is unavailable; they never see the event name, the attendees or anything else from your calendar.

The only thing a client receives is the invitation for their own booking, which is created in your destination calendar with a Google Meet link for online formats. That event is theirs, created for them, and nothing else leaks from the calendars doing the blocking.

Frequently asked questions

**Can I block slots from a calendar that belongs to a different Google account?** You connect one Google account, so calendars shared into that account can block slots, but a completely separate account would need to share its calendar with the connected one first.

**What happens if I mark an event as "Free" in Google Calendar?** Blocking respects busy events, so an event you have marked as free will not remove availability from your booking page.

**Can I change which calendar receives bookings later?** Yes. Open the calendar settings in Viralyze and pick a different destination calendar; future bookings go there and existing events stay where they were created.
