50 Instagram Comment Keywords That Make People Act

19 October 2026

The keyword you ask people to comment decides how many of them actually do it. Short, concrete words that name the reward (LINK, PRICE, GUIDE) get typed far more than clever ones. Below is a list of 50 that work across niches, grouped by what you are handing out. In the Viralyze app you can add several of these to one automation, and matching is not case-sensitive, so "link", "Link" and "LINK" all trigger the same DM.

Why does the keyword matter so much?

The keyword is the smallest possible action you ask of a viewer, so any friction kills it. A person watching a reel on a bus will type "LINK" but will not type "send me the complete resource please". Keep it to one or two words, make it easy to spell, and say it out loud in the video as well as in the caption.

Our rule of thumb: if you cannot imagine someone typing it with one thumb in two seconds, pick another word.

The 50-keyword list, sorted by goal

Use one keyword per goal per post. Mixing "LINK" and "PRICE" on the same reel is fine if they send different DMs.

For free guides and lead magnets:

  • GUIDE

  • BUY
  • SHOP
  • ORDER
  • CATALOGUE
  • RATE

Which keywords get typed the most?

In our experience the winners are the ones that already describe what the viewer wants: PRICE on a product reel, RECIPE on a food reel, PLAN on a fitness reel. Generic words like YES or ME work well when you phrase the hook as a question ("Want the template? Comment YES").

A concrete example: a home baker running a glaze tutorial set three keywords on one reel, "RECIPE", "glaze recipe bhejo" and "🍰". Viralyze treats all three as triggers, replies in the commenter's language, and sends the same recipe PDF. The emoji keyword alone picked up comments the text keywords would have missed.

Should you use Hinglish or emoji keywords?

Yes, if that is how your audience already comments. Many Indian viewers type "bhejo", "link do" or "price batao" rather than a clean English word, and a strict matcher would ignore them. Viralyze handles Hinglish spellings, emojis and common typos, so you can list "LINK", "link do" and "🔗" together and catch all of them.

Keep the on-screen instruction to one primary keyword though. Extra variants are a safety net, not the headline.

How to roll out a keyword across your account

1. Pick one keyword per content type (PRICE for products, GUIDE for freebies, BOOK for calls). 2. Say it in the first three seconds of the reel and repeat it in the caption and on-screen text. 3. Create the automation in Viralyze: choose the post, type the keyword and its variants, write the DM, turn it on. 4. Run the live tester with a sample comment like "Price??" before going live. 5. Check the per-automation funnel after a week: comments, matched, delivered, clicked. If matched is far below comments, add the spellings people actually used.

Frequently asked questions

**Can one post have more than one keyword?** Yes. Add as many as you like to a single automation, and you can map different keywords to different replies, for example PRICE to a checkout and GUIDE to a PDF.

**What if someone comments the keyword with a typo?** Common typos, extra punctuation and mixed case still match, so "Pricee" or "price?" triggers the DM without you adding every variant by hand.

**Do these keywords work on story replies too?** Yes. The same keyword can trigger on comments to a specific post, comments on any post, or replies to a story, depending on how you set the automation.
